For current swimmers who would like to upgrade their regular membership, our Swimming membership with Pool Access represents great value at $250* with unlimited access to the pool. Swim Memberships & Swim Memberships with pool access are valid until 31.03.25.

Don’t forget your Swimming membership includes all member benefits, allowing you to sign in up to 6 guests at the Club, so bring along friends and family and we’ll welcome them warmly.

Induction 2024

Our Swimming Club dates back to 1929 and owes its origin to the desire of a band of local lifesavers trying to maintain their fitness during the winter months. It is the only licensed Winter Swimming Club in the world. So, do you have what it takes to become an Iceberg?

How to join

New swimmer Induction days happen once a year. Prospective swimming members must be proposed by a current swimming member and seconded by another current swimming member.

All new swimmers MUST attend our 1.5 hour induction sessions to be eligible to join the Bondi Icebergs Winter Swimming Club. This includes a swimming time trial so be prepared to jump in the pool. We ask you to have one of your proposers with you on the day.

Induction dates for 2024 are Sunday 24th March and Sunday 7th April

Inductees must bring their printed and completed application form on the day.
Incomplete forms will not be processed. No exceptions.

Are you new to Bondi? Come down to the club and join in meet the members night on Thursday 23rd March and Thursday 20th April from 6.30pm. Here you will be able to chat to current members and ask us a few questions on what it is like to be part of a winter swimming club.

Becoming an Iceberg

The Bondi Icebergs swim on Sundays between May and September.

New swimmers Induction days happen once a year. Prospective swimming members must be proposed by a current swimming member, and seconded by another current swimming member.

All new swimmers MUST attend our 1.5 hour induction sessions to be eligible to join the Bondi Icebergs Winter Swimming Club. This includes a swimming time trial so be prepared to jump in the pool. We ask you to have a minimum of one of your proposers with you on the day. The induction date will be announced at the start of March.

Requirements

Swimmers must compete three Sunday’s out of four for a period of five years.
If a swimming member fails to swim on at least 3 Sundays they must provide a written letter of explanation before the end of the relevant month. This is known as the Historic Rule 15B.

HISTORIC RULE 15B

If a swimming member fails to provide a written explanation as required, the Swimming committee may send the member a letter or email (which may be referred to as a 15B letter) requesting the member to contact the Race Recorder to explain why they failed to meet the swimming requirement.

If a member does not comply with the 15B letter the Swim Committee may suspend the member from all Club swimming events and request the member be transferred to Social Membership of the Club. Or they may suspend the member from all Club swimming events and forward to the Board recommending the member be removed from the Club’s Register of Members for a period of up to 12 months.
